Netbook computers are popular these. However, many netbooks lack disk space storage (especially the older generations like the Asus EeePC 70x or 90x series). Here is a way to claim some valuable space back.

  1. From Windows Explorer, browse to the "%systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution\Download" folder. For most people, that's "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download":


     
  2. Select all files and folders unde the this folder (i.e. Everything under the Download subfolder).
     
  3. Delete those selected files & folders.[1]
     
  4. Done (Please do remember to empty the Recycle Bin).

 

Also, if you do not plan to uninstall those Windows Updates (ie. service packs, hotfixes, IE upgrades), you can remove those as well. That's another tip!
