To disable auto-update in Adobe Reader:
This is applicable to newer versions (e.g. 9.x, 8.x, 7.x). For the older versions (e.g. 6.x), please see our next tip of this series.

  1. Start Adobe Reader
  2. From the menu, choose "Help" and then select "Check for Updates...":

  3. Click on "Preferences":

  4. Uncheck "Automatically check for Adobe updates:":
Note: If there are other Adobe products installed, you may also modify their update preferences from "Choose the applications to updae:".

  5. Click OK to complete the change.
